Description
We offer natural sage hydrolate for cosmetics, obtained from the plant species with the botanical name Salvia sclarea. It is known as Clary Sage natural hydrolate for cosmetics. The raw material is the flowering stalk, and the large capitate trichomes on it form and accumulate linalyl acetate and sclareol in the tissue of this species. Capitate glandular trichomes develop on the calyx of the flowers, and peltate ones also stand next to them. The Lamiaceae family also includes this species, whose volatile substances remain in the stalk together with its inflorescences, and not in the root of the plant. The clean olfactory profile appears thanks to steam distillation, in which the aqueous medium takes up mainly the polar oxygen-containing volatile compounds of the raw material. The aroma maintains medium strength and brings together a bitter, herbal and spicy direction in one sensation. The tone starts from colorless and reaches at most a light yellowish shade. The weak coloring suggests few coloring substances in the distillate. The plants thrive in Bulgaria, where care remains natural and does not include chemical agents against pests or synthetic fertilizers applied to the soil. Natural cultivation preserves the balance between the volatile constituents, so the olfactory picture comes solely from the flowering plant material. In addition, preservatives and colorants are kept out of this liquid. The leading constituents of the flowering mass are linalyl acetate, linalool and caryophyllene, which determine the herbal tone of the liquid. The herbal line lies at the base, while the bitter and spicy sides arrange themselves around it. The clear liquid remains uniform throughout its entire volume. The stalk origin determines the dry and herbal direction of the scent. The distillate remains true to the flowering raw material until the last moment.
Application
Sage stalk hydrolate, obtained by steam distillation, is a popular ingredient in cosmetics due to its balancing and refreshing effect on the skin. The liquid is included in cleansing facial toners, moisturizing skin creams and micellar waters for gentle cleansing. It is applied in regenerating masks, serums with a mattifying effect and aftershave lotions. It is used in facial cleansing foam, compresses for tired skin and rejuvenating serums. It also finds application in light-textured body lotions, eye contour creams, as well as cleansing milks for delicate skin. It is suitable for moisturizing fluids for everyday care, for toners for skin with visible pores, as well as for facial sprays for fatigue. It is also used in skin-nourishing masks, sebum control creams, as well as lip balms with a regenerating formula, giving the skin a feeling of freshness and balance.
